The SERS Retirement Board consists of nine members: four elected employee members, two elected retiree members, and three appointed investment expert members. One investment expert is appointed by the Governor, one by the Treasurer of State, and one jointly by the Speaker of the House and President of the Senate. Board members serve four-year terms. Terms for employee-member and retiree-member seats begin on July 1 and end on June 30.
The Retirement Board meets monthly, except in January and August, in Columbus. Meetings are held on the third Thursday and, if necessary, Friday of the month.
The following committees meet in March, June, September, and December:
Board members may attend up to two meetings remotely per year per the Remote Board Meeting Attendance Policy.

Meetings of the SERS Board and its committees are governed by the Ohio Open Meetings Law. While the law does not grant the public an automatic right to be heard, the SERS Board intends to provide reasonable opportunities for public comment.

The Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives and the President of the Ohio Senate reappointed James Rossler Jr. as an investment expert to the SERS Board. He is treasurer of the Rossford Exempted Village School System, near Toledo, and is a member of the Ohio Association of School Business Officials. Rossler attended the University of Toledo, where he earned a bachelor degree in business administration with a major in accounting and a master degree in accounting. He is a certified public accountant. Before coming to SERS, Rossler served on the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio Board.

Daniel L. Wilson has been reappointed to the Board by the Governor. He is the Director of Business Development for the Education Service Center of the Western Reserve since May 2021, and the former Chief Financial Officer for the Mentor Exempted Village School District. Wilson has nearly 30 years of experience in school finance and has been a member of the Ohio Association of School Business Officials throughout his career. He holds a bachelor degree in accounting from Ohio University and a master degree in business administration from Lake Erie College. He is a member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants and holds a CPA certificate.

Jeanine Alexander was chosen to fill a vacant employee-member seat in November 2024 and is now serving her first full term on the Board. She is a school bus driver for South-Western City Schools in Grove City. Alexander is an active member of OAPSE/AFSCME Local 4, where she has served as unit president and vice president. She is passionate about retirement security for school employees and advocating for the rights and benefits of public workers.

Jeffrey T. DeLeone was appointed to the Board by the Ohio Treasurer. This is his third term. He is President of Jeff DeLeonePOINT Financial Group, Ltd., which provides financial planning, investment management and insurance services to individuals and businesses. DeLeone is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). He received his Bachelors degree from Miami University.

Matthew King is serving his second full term on the Board. King has been treasurer and chief financial officer at East Cleveland City School District since 2004. He is a former president of the Cuyahoga County Association of School Business Officials. In 2019, King was named Ohio Treasurer of the Year by the Ohio Association of School Business Officials. He received his bachelor degree from Cleveland State University and his master degree in business administration from Baldwin-Wallace University. King is a Registered School Business Official.

Catherine Moss is serving her sixth term on the Board. Moss retired in 1997 after 30 years with the West Geauga Local School District, where she worked as a secretary/bookkeeper. She is former president of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, a member of the Ohio Retired Educators Association, and a member of the National Retired Teachers Association. Moss received her bachelor degree from Muskingum College and also attended Hiram College and Case Western Reserve University.

Becky Roe is serving her first term on the Board. Roe has worked for Columbus City Schools since 2021, where she currently serves as an educational aide. She is an active member of OAPSE/AFSCME Local 4 and has served as a steward and organizer in her district. Roe is committed to protecting the retirement security of Ohio school employees and ensuring their voices are represented in decisions that affect their futures.

Aimee Russell is serving her first term on the Board. Russell is an active member of OAPSE for 11 years. Currently, she is employed at Olentangy School District. She is a former OAPSE Local 4 unit president, secretary, and has experience as a negotiation team member. Russell is a graduate of National Labor College and attended Columbus State Community College.

Frank Weglarz is serving his third term on the Board. Weglarz retired from the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City Schools after 23 years of service as a custodian. He is a longtime member of OAPSE/AFSCME Local 4, where he has served in various leadership capacities including local vice president. Weglarz has been an advocate for retiree benefits and has represented SERS retirees at the state and local level.
