Executive Director Joined SERS: 2017
Richard Stensrud joined SERS as the Executive Director in 2017. He is the central point of accountability for SERS’s overall affairs, investment performance, and operational and financial performance.
Before joining SERS, Stensrud served as CEO of the $8 billion Sacramento County Employees’ Retirement System (SCERS). Along with serving as CEO of SCERS, Stensrud has been the Chair of the Legislative Committee for the State Association of County Retirement Systems, representing over 20 retirement systems, for the past ten years.
This public service followed two years as CEO of the Merced County Employees’ Retirement Association. Additionally, Stensrud has held general counsel and senior policy advisor roles for the Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan, Teachers’ Retirement System of Illinois, and Public School and Education Employees Retirement System of Missouri.
Stensrud received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and a Juris Doctor from Indiana University.
Deputy Executive Director Joined SERS: 2019
Karen Roggenkamp joined SERS as the Deputy Executive Director in 2019. She oversees the administration of SERS’s Member Services, Health Care, Information Technology, Administrative Services, and Human Resources departments.
Before joining SERS, Roggenkamp served as Deputy Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer of the Kentucky Retirement Systems. In addition, she served in various senior management positions at Huntington Bank and Bank One/JP Morgan Chase.
Roggenkamp received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Western Kentucky University and her MBA from Xavier University.
