SERS’ governance authority is defined by the provisions of Ohio Revised Code, Section 3309. Everything SERS is allowed to do is contained in this statute. Because statutes are written concisely, SERS creates and updates administrative rules that explain exactly how SERS manages functions like member enrollment and disability applications.
SERS’ Board and staff also have important governance responsibilities. The Board charts the general direction of the pension plan and staff across the organization work to ensure the Board’s vision and directives are implemented.
We’re glad you’re a member of SERS. If you have questions about your retirement account or benefits, we are here to help.
